We have undertaken a range of activities through the Crowdy Head School focussed on Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and coastline vegetation and weeds of National Significance (Bitou Bush and Asparagaceae).  We produced a DVD on Aboriginal Cultural heritage and are currently liaising regarding using the old school site for Environmental Education activities.

We have engaged the indigenous community TIDE Green Team Rangers to undertake some components of our weed control works.

The Volunteer Worker Program was undertaken by some 30 people in the over 55 age category as part of a Centrelink program (work-for the dole). They worked 15 hours per week (two days) under a supervisor, targeting Bitou Bush and other select weed species.  Council and Greater Taree City Manning Coastcare funds were also used in this program. The work has been undertaken at three sites:

  • Crowdy Head to Harrington

  • Manning Point/ Old Bar and

  • Hallid...
