About Us
Manning Coastcare Group (MCCG), established in 1995, is a community-based, not-for-profit Incorporated Association and a Landcare NSW member supporting a network of around 140 individual members who volunteer in six working groups over 40 km of the NSW mid-north coast. Details for these groups are found below. A foundation member of Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare Connection, MCCG is a Landcare Member Group within this network.
MCCG’s focus is on the conservation of the biodiversity of the coastal habitat and wildlife corridor on public lands owned and managed by Mid Coast Council, along with Crown Reserves and State Parks, between Crowdy Head and Hallidays Point. We are particularly concerned with protecting the littoral rainforests of the area. Remnants of littoral rainforest, an Endangered Ecological Community under the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, occur throughout the mid-north coast but are threatened by development, erosion, climate change and sea-level rise. MCCG is developing future climate preparedness and adaptation strategies, in cooperation with MidCoast Council, to help volunteers and the community proactively face these challenges to our coastal environments.
We organise field days and workshops on a range of topics and provide our volunteers with on-going knowledge and skills training for the the control of high priority weeds such as Asparagus and Bitou bush.
In addition to the many hours of restoration work undertaken by our volunteers, where needed we also employ qualified contractors to undertake works, paid for with grant funding. Our funding is mostly from the NSW Government through Landcare NSW and Local Land Services with other grant sources utilised where appropriate.
In 2006 Manning Coastcare was incorporated as Manning Coastcare Group Inc. a not-for-profit legal entity #9885445 under the Associations Incorporation Act of NSW (ABN 73302754263). MCCG is managed by a volunteer committee under the guidelines of its Constitution.
