Bootawa Sustainable Farm Field Day

Join us with hosts, Lauren and Norm at their beautiful Bootawa property for a morning exploring prime koala habitat. Norm and Lauren have been actively preparing the property for sustainable cattle grazing by fencing all of their creeks, planting local native species to expand wildlife corridors and provide further Koala habitat, and controlling weeds such as Lantana and privet in their creeks and gullies.  We will take a walk along their creek lines and gullies and look at the damage from recent floods and how to remediate creek bank erosion. We will also look at Wildlife-Friendly Fencing; discuss best practice weed control methodology, how to succeed with planting projects, and compare the different vegetation types along the different gullies and drainage lines.  

After lunch we will get our hands dirty and give Norm and Lauren a hand with replanting some of their damaged creek line with the ever-reliable Lomandra.

Staff from the Biodiversity Conservation Trust, Council and Landcare will be available to offer support and share their expertise about Koala programs and what you can do to support this iconic species on your property. You will also have the opportunity to meet other Conservation Agreement landholders and discuss shared interests around biodiversity, restoration and conservation, and we may even be lucky enough to spot a Koala on the day!
