With wild swings in climate and soil conditions, such as we've just seen - with a crazy wet winter followed by an incredibly fast drying out over Spring and Summer, a nasty, hot, dry Autumn and an El Nino to come - we desperately need nature-based solutions to improve our local "Small Water Cycle". One of the key needs in heavily disturbed farm landscapes is more TREES, which when used strategically, can fulfil a myriad of functions, from biodiversity to stock shelter, fodder reserve to microclimate management. Meanwhile, these harsh conditions can make tree planting projects a tough and potentially fruitless and frustrating exercise in pushing sh!t uphill.
We'll look at options for helping your trees along with a strategic approach.
