Stroud Junior Landcare NAIDOC Week Celebration

Join Stroud Junior Landcare for a special NAIDOC Week 2026 community celebration on Wednesday 15 July, from 10am-1pm at Lions Park, Mill Creek, Stroud.

Held on Worimi Country, this free, family-friendly event celebrates 50 Years of Deadly through culture, storytelling, creativity, connection and caring for Country. Everyone is welcome to come together to learn, share and celebrate the rich culture, history and continuing traditions of the Worimi people.

The day will begin with a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony led by Worimi Traditional Owner Uncle Justin Ridgeway, followed by cultural dancing and traditional games for children with the Murrook Culture Centre.

Throughout the morning, families can enjoy a range of hands-on activities at their own pace. Listen to the beautiful children's story Where Ripples Rise, created by Rachel Barry, Estelle Leishman and Justin Ridgeway, before hearing the Dreaming story of Yapii the platypus shared by Uncle Justin.

• Hands-on cultural learning with the Murrook Culture Centre
• A self-guided Gathang Language Nature Hunt for children
• Creative arts including zine making, colouring and nature art with eco-artist Estelle Leishman
• Community tree planting with Stroud Community Rivercare, helping restore local habitat while giving back to Country.

Morning tea, coffee and delicious NAIDOC-themed cookies from The Koffee Run will be provided.

Whether you're attending with children, friends or family, this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate NAIDOC Week, learn about Worimi culture, participate in fun activities and strengthen community connections in a welcoming outdoor setting.
