Copeland Tops State Conservation area contains a diverse range of vegetation classes, including rainforest communities in the creeks and gullies, and dry sclerophyll forests at elevation. The endangered Craven's Box, Eucalyptus largeana occurs here, along with the Vulnerable Vine, Cynanchum elegans. This remnant of elevated native vegetation is at serious risk from impacts caused by human-induced climate change.

This workshop will be a practical day of learning, led by restoration expert, Peter Dixon and meteorologist, Graham Creed. We will touch on the basics of climate science and best practice ecological restoration before heading out into the field to observe the real-world effects of climate change on the vegetation at Copeland Tops – such as future climate projections and associated risks, such as more frequent and intense wildfire.

You will be given practical restoration tips that support ecosystem functionality and resilience recovery, which you can then apply in your own projects. We will discuss how we can safeguard our Landcare values and projects, and build climate resilience within both our communities and our land.

This informative workshop is free for all MidCoast2Tops and Hunter Regional Landcare Members, but places are limited.  Non-members are also welcome to attend, but a small booking fee will be charged.
