Caring for the land is about more than weeds and plant identification — it's about understanding the Country we work on, and the people who have cared for it for many generations.
Landcare is partnering with Elders, local Aboriginal Community, Rangers and Land Councils to bring cultural heritage immersions to Landcare groups in the MidCoast.
What to expect:
- Learn about the history and cultural significance of the Country you live and work on
- Understand how to recognise culturally significant sites and materials
- Find out what to do and who to call if you come across a potential cultural heritage find
- Discover locally significant plants, seasonal knowledge, and how Country has been read and cared for long before European settlement
- Take part in an on-Country experience; a walk, a yarn, a shared activity guided by local Community
This is a chance to build relationships between Landcare volunteers and Aboriginal Community. Come with curiosity and respect — that's all you need. Free event. Lunch provided.
