Un-complicate the process of making extracts
Extracting your compost or vermicompost into water is a great way to get all the amazing properties of that product into the versatility of a liquid. Compared with other methods, extracts give you not only the beneficial microbes, but also the humic compounds, enzymes, signalling molecules and trace minerals which together have an incredible benefit to your plants and soil.
This workshop will teach you how to make simple and functional brewing equipment using readily available parts to produce your farm’s own liquid biostimulant. It will cover topics such as:
  • The benefits of extraction, and how it compares to compost teas;
  • How to build a simple brewer;
  • The methodology for making your extract, including water ratios, brewing times, and what to look for with inputs;
  • Tips for the use of your extracts.
Our trainer for the day is Lee Fieldhouse of Island Biologicals. Lee has been making commercial vermicompost extracts for over a decade. He will show you how easy it can be to set up your own simple brewer to enjoy the versatility and fertility-creating benefits.
Morning tea will be provided.
