Summer Cover Crop Seed Subsidy Offer

Our previous seed subsidy programs have delivered some terrific results across the MC2Tops area, and we’re excited to offer members another opportunity this season.

Check out photos from previous seed subsidies here.

This season, we’re keeping things as local and practical as possible by teaming up with Greenpatch Seeds in Glenthorne, near Taree. This local partnership helps reduce freight costs and makes collection more centralised for participating members.

Who can access the offer?

1. You must be a Landcare member in the MC2Tops area.
2. Maximum 5 bags per person/family/farm.
3. MC2Tops will contribute up to $10 per bag, for a maximum of five bags per person, family or farm

Register your Expression of Interest

What happens next?

If you would like to participate in the Summer Cover Crop Seed Subsidy Offer, please email support@midcoast2tops.org.au to register your interest by close of business Monday 14 September. This will help the Committee confirm whether there is enough interest to proceed.

Once the offer is confirmed, MC2Tops will let registered members know that ordering is open and provide details for ordering and collection. Ordering is expected to remain open for approximately one to two weeks.

Participating members will order and pay for their seed directly through Greenpatch Seeds. When ordering, please advise Greenpatch Seeds that you have registered your interest for the seed subsidy as an MC2Tops member, so your order can be included under the subsidy. Please note that only members who have registered their interest first will be eligible to access the subsidy.

Places are limited, so please register early to avoid missing out.

MC2Tops will contribute up to $10 per bag, for a maximum of five bags per person, family or farm. You are welcome to order more than five bags; however, the subsidy will only apply to the first five eligible bags.

If you participated in a previous seed project, we’d love to hear how things went on your property. A short update and any photos would be greatly appreciated. Please send updates and pictures to support@midcoast2tops.org.au.

The Seed Mix

The proposed mix has been selected with local growing conditions in mind. It aims to provide a useful spread of varieties while keeping the price as affordable as possible. Based on the current mix below, a 25 kg bag would cost $133.25 before the MC2Tops subsidy is applied.

The mix may be adjusted if required; however, changes to the proportions may also affect the final price. Millet, mungbean and cowpea are currently the most cost-effective lines in the mix, while increasing other varieties may increase the price.

An inoculant may also be included at an additional cost. Approximately 25 g is required per 25 kg bag and would cover mungbean, cowpea and sunn hemp. The estimated cost is $4.50 per 25 g.
