World Clean Up Day at Manning Point

Manning Coastcare had a beautiful and successful day at Manning Point on Saturday 19th September. We teamed up with OzFish and their Manning Chapter team to celebrate World Clean Up Day by removing small plastics out of the riverbanks and beaches to help our local marine life. Common items found were broken beer bottles, fishing line and cigarette butts, all causing negative impacts on our environment and marine life. Overall we cleared around 20kg of litter. We also had a few local Old Bar Coastcare volunteers come along and demonstrate how to remove noxious weeds such as asparagus and mother of million out of the local littoral rainforest patch at Vic Shoesmith Reserve. A big thank you to OzFish and Old Bar Lions Club for providing lunch and hosting the event!
