Property Resilience and Recovery Action Planning Workshops
Expression Of Interest
12th November - Hillville/Rainbow Flat/Possum Brush
19th November - Elands/Bobin
This full-day workshop has been designed to aid heavily impacted primary producers from last years bushfire and drought conditions as they start to re-examine the workings of their property going forward. This workshop is suitable for hobby farms up to medium production properties. Throughout a series of presentation, landholders will be guided through the expected challenges of land management in this time of increasing extremes of weather, providing strategies to address these new extremes.
Topics to be discussed on the day include:
- Climate change impacts for the Mid Coast
- Water quality management post bushfire
- Managed Grazing
- Soil health post-drought and bushfire
- Erosion control
- Landscape Rehydration
- Property Bushfire preparedness
- Weed management post-fire
- Value of biodiversity on property
Working on individual action plans throughout the day, attendees will be compiling a draft property action plan through the use of a provided template. Together with their neighbours and the help of Landcare, these will assist landholders in their decision making and may form the basis of funding applications for joint initiatives.
This will be a COVID safe event in accordance with NSW Health guidelines and as such, places are strictly limited due to restrictions. On the day, we will ask you to check-in, confirming you have not travelled to a COVID hotspot in the last 14 days, or been in contact with a suspected case. Although morning tea will be provided, due to these restrictions, we ask that attendees self cater their lunch.
Prior to the event, landholders will be asked to complete "pre-work", producing mud maps of their properties and priorities on provided aerial imagery. The completion of these elements prior to the event will allow our team to envision your properties accurately when offering advise as well as aid in your priority planning.
These events will be full day, from 8:30am to 4pm. Venue will be provided upon registration. Please register for the event within your local area in order to enable community cross-fence initiatives to be established.
